- Memorial services for Wylbert "Joe" Moore will be at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Springs, Texas.
A U.S. Navy WWII Veteran, Joe was a graduate of Big Spring High School. He received a BS degree in Political Science from the University of Houston in 1956. A former teacher, he started what is now known as the Houston Apartment Finders, then had a long career as a realtor serving the Lake Sam Rayburn Area. He was a member and former officer with the Texas Board of Realtors, Texas Associations of Realtors, and former President of the Jasper Area Board of Realtors. A former Jasper Democratic Party Chairman, he has served as a Delegate to The National Democratic Party Conventions and worked closely with former Congressman Charles Wilson and Texas Governor Ann Richards for the betterment of Southeast Texas. Joe was a former member of The Jasper Lions Club.
He is survived by two sons, Gary Moore and Jose' Gregory Moore; four daughters, Joetta Waltemathe, Terry Klare, Maria Elena Moore, and Leah Moore Mitchell; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of other family & friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his father Landy York Moore; mother Minnie Farrar Moore; sisters Thelma Jean Riney, Kay Sewell, Maxine Vanderberg; brothers John T. Moore & Walter C. Moore & wives Sarah Lou Summers & wife of 47 years Glenda Dee Foster Moore.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper. [1]
