      He was the spouse of Elizabeth Reavis Byars.

      They were married March 25, 1825 in Jefferson County, Alabama and had the following children: Thomas Anderson Byars, Mary Ann Byars and Henry Kelby Byars.

      After the death of Elizabeth, he married Elizabeth Walker.

      They were married January 5, 1832 in Jefferson County, Alabama and had the following children: Robert, Nannie and Nathan "Dutch" Byars, Jr.
