Lois F. Hennessee | Visit Guest Book
Lois F. Hennessee, formerly of Hudgins, Va., entered eternal rest on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at her home in Petersburg, Va.
Mrs. Hennessee was born June 30, 1920 in Newark, N.J. She was married for 58 years to Sgt. Maj. (Retired) George H. Hennessee USMC, a marriage that produced three sons, John A. Hennessee of Petersburg, Va., Steven G. Hennessee of Richmond, Va., and James C. Hennessee, of Staunton, Va.
During her long and productive life she was proudest of her activities outside of work. She was a member of the Eastern Star, organist and choir director of Christ Church, Gordonsville, and Christ Church, Cismont.
At the time of her passing she was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Richmond.
Surviving to honor her memory are her three sons, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, Colin Scott Hennessee of El Paso, Texas, Daniel Allen Hennessee of Hopewell, Va., Jennifer Lynell Hennessee of Chesapeake, Va., Caleb Issac Hennessee of Hopewell, Va., and Madaline Mae Hennessee of Hopewell.
She will also be fondly remembered by her extended family, Doris Cheatham of Chester, Va., Robert Wheatley of Richmond, Va., Allison Hennessee of Hopewell, Pamela Thomas of Colonial Heights, Va. and Joan Compagnone of West Point, Va.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 2 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 3602 Hawthorne Ave., Richmond, Virginia with Rector Sue Eaves officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3 at Winsor Gardens Memorial Cemetery in Gloucester, Va. Family and friends are invited to attend both services. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church or their local hospice organization. Services are under the direction of Tucker Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, Va.
