    • Printed in the Houston Times Post dated October 12 1988

      Mrs. LaUna New Woody, age 88, of Houston, died Tuesday, October 4 1988 at Houston Community Hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, October 7 at Southern Funeral Chapel in Houston. Burial was in Houston Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Maroon of Belmont and Rev. John Wingard of Water Valley officiating.

      The widow of Rufus Woody Sr., she was a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian Church in Houston.

      Survivors include one daughter, Jean Kreiger of Houston; one son, Col. Rufus Woody Jr., (USAF-retired) Austin, Texas; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, Walter W Woody Sr., Robert C Woody and Jo B Woody Sr.

      Pallbearers were Charles Criddle, Tom Davis, Bobby Scott, Dyer Atkinson, John Clifton Williams and Evans Baird. [2]
