Notes |
- The Esther Hembree shown in the 1810, 1820 and 1830 Census for Spartanburg is claimed by three different branches of the family.
She certainly fits as one of the "Merry Widows" of Abraham's line who did not let widowhood hinder them from bearing children.
The census Esther is our Esther, and the widow of Irah Hembree, a brother of Owen Hembree (see Rebecca) and fellow member of the Friendship Baptist Church.
Esther stayed in Spartanburg after Abraham moved up to North Carolina. She died there sometime after 1830. [1]
