Edward le Despenser, K.G., 4th Lord le Despenser, lord of Glamorgan and Morganwg, Wales..., born at Essendine, Rutland about 24 March 1335/6, was son and heir of Edward le Despenser by his wife Anne Ferrers. Edward married Elizabeth Burghersh before August 2, 1354.[1]
King Edward I was his great-great-grandfather (through his paternal grandmother, Eleanor de Clare).[2]

Edward married Elizabeth Burghersh before 2 August 1354. She was born before July 26, 1347.[5]
Elizabeth was the daughter and heiress of Sir Bartholomew de Burghersh, 4th Lord Burghersh, Justiciar of Chester, Steward & Constable of Wallingford & St. Valery, by his first wife Cicely de Weyland[6] (Cecily de Weland) of Blaxhall and Cockfield, Suffolk.[5]

Death
Sir Edward le Despenser died 11 November 1375.[12] at Llanblethian, Glamorganshire, Wales and was buried at Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucestershire.[13]

The will of "Edward Lord Despenser Lord of Glamorgan and Morgannock", dated 6 Nov 1375, chose burial "in the abbey of Tewksbury", bequeathed property to "Elizabeth my wife...Ralf de Ferrers my uncle...John d´Odingsells".[11]
Edward's widow died July 26, 1409.[5]
The will of "Elizabeth de Burghersh Lady Despenser", dated 4 Jul 1409, chose burial "in the church of Our Lady at Tewksbury betwixt my...husband Edward Lord Despenser and my son Thomas le Despenser", bequeathed property to "the Lady Morley my daughter...the Lady Margaret Ferrers my daughter...Philippa my daughter...Elizabeth daughter to the aforesaid Margaret".[11]
