Notes |
- Randa, there were two Perygren Macknesses, Sr. and Jr., floating around northern Virginia and southern Maryland during this time. I'm not sure whether the one who witnessed Nathanial Thomas' will was Sr. (a blacksmith) or Jr. (the one who came to North Carolina and whose descendants ended up mostly in Arkansas). We have another document showing that Perygren Jr.'s wife was named Mary, but that's such a common name that it could also have been the name of his mother. (We have no document that specifically names the wife of Perygren Sr.)
Anyway, that's a long way of saying that the Perygren you found in Frederick County was almost certainly one or the other of these two men.
Perygren Sr. does seem to have had other sons (Samuel definitely, John and George possibly) and a daughter who married a Gaines. What's your possible connection here? I don't have a lot of data on the elder Perygren, but I do have some, and I might possibly be able to help.
