From "The New Era", Thursday, April 24, 1884,

"Editor New Era: - Sickness and death have again been in our midst. This time
it robbed Eld. P.G.Potter and family of their little daughter Minnie, aged 13
years, who died Wednesday last from congestion of the brain, after an illness
of thirty hours. Minnie was on the those sweet and amiably disposed children
whom everybody admired. She possessed qualities of mind and heart rarely
equalled by one of so few years. She had attained a commendable
proficiency in music, and on the night immediately preceding her fatal and
sudden sickness, entertained the family and a visiting friend or two with music
from the organ; among the pieces rendered was, "You will miss me from the home
circles some time." Indeed the prophetic sentiment of this song now finds a
ready response in the bosom of this bereaved family. It will thrill upon the
heart and vibrate upon the ear drum with its prolonged echo through the
changing scenes of oncoming life. The body was laid to rest the following day
in the family graveyard, Rev. Isaac Denton conducting the funeral services at
the grave. No death in north Warren lately has cast a more profound sorrow
over the community that the sudden death of little Minnie, and this seemingly
oft bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire neighborhood."
