    • 4. Samuel Gill, born c1808 (census 1800-1810) in NC or SC, believed to be a son of Henry Gill, was found in the poll tax also in the same Co. They relocated to White Co., TN where Samuel Gill married Malinda Davis on 12 July, 1838 in White Co., TN. (Oldest Marriage Book, White Co., TN Record)(a female named Ellen Gill, married a Joseph Davis about 10 ten years later, she may have been sister to Samuel and married a sibling of Malinda). Samuel and Malinda moved to Pikeville, Bledsoe Co., TN. Samuel Gill died c1860-70.
      Known children of Samuel Gill, born c1800-1810, probable son of Henry Gill:
      (1) John Gill born c1837-1840, d. Abt. 1910, ?-Garrison Cemetery, Rhea Co. (located stone). He married MARTHA ELVIRA BURDETTE c1867, daughter of GEORGE BURDETT(E) and EDA HOCKETT. John could have been the confederate soldier that I obtained copies of pay vouchers for though he was never paid and deserted the war. He was listed as a private in Co. C, Col. T. B. Murray's 22nd Battalion, Tennessee Infantry. Of the three copies I received he was listed as absent without leave and finally ordered dropped fron the rolls by order of the War Department. W. D. Campbell signed each as the copyist. JOHN GILL: Tombstone gives dates: 1835-1908; 1900 census gives July 1837, Garrison Cemetery, Dayton, Rhea Co., TN. MARTHA ELVIRA BURDETTE: First Cousin to Emily. Buried in Webb Cem., Dayton, Rhea Co., TN. 1880 census Bledsoe Co., Page 11, #240. 1900 census says 1851 yr.of birth Widowed at 65 in 1913.

He died February 06, 1955, Soddy, Hamilton Co., Tennessee. He married RACHEL ARLENA DAVIS January 01, 1905 in Prob. Dayton, Rhea Co., Tennessee, daughter of DAVID DAVIS and RACHAEL FRENCH. VIRGIL HARMON GILL "Harm" was injured in the Soddy mines and completely bent over. His back had to be broken to lay him in the casket for burial. After his injury, he ran the washhouse at the mines. RACHEL ARLENA DAVIS "Odie" had 5 stillborn babies 4 males and 1 female. They are buried beside her and their father's grave in the Presbyterian Cemtery, Soddy, TN. She suffered severe migraine headaches and was very thin and pale.
