    While growing up in Vancouver Dean attended Vancouver High School where he was intensely interested in and deeply involved in music and drama. He appeared in many High School drama productions, sang in the A cappella Choir, the double quartette, and played in the marching band. He graduated from Vancouver High School in 1952. In 1953 Dean received a Congressional Appointment to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. After graduation from the Naval Academy, Dean completed Navy Flight Training and received his coveted "Navy Wings of Gold" in 1959. He then returned to the Pacific Northwest and married his longtime sweetheart Evernor Lundy. After postings that included Barber's Point, Hawaii, Midway Island, and the Pacific Missile Range at Point Mugu, California and Whidbey Island Naval Air Station in Oak Harbor, Washington Dean took his discharge from the Naval Service. Over the next years prior to retirement he held many jobs, mostly in sales.

    • John Dean Angel passed away on January 28th, 2014 in Everett, Washington at the age of 79. Dean, as he was called, was born in Harriman, Tennessee on July 29th, 1934, the oldest child of Harold Cameron and Vivian Angel.

      Cameron Angel was the traveling preacher for the Cumberland Mountains area of Tennessee. After receiving a call to come to Vancouver, Washington in 1947 to pastor the First Baptist Church of Vancouver, the Angel family, which now included another son and a one month old daughter made the trip out to the Pacific Northwest.

      While growing up in Vancouver Dean attended Vancouver High School where he was intensely interested in and deeply involved in music and drama.       Dean had many interests during his life including being a member of Toastmasters International where he won many awards. After retirement he returned to the stage as a member of the Edmonds Driftwood Players where he appeared in many productions. He also appeared with the Bellevue Opera, Evergreen Players in Monroe and the Savoyard Players in Everett. He was a volunteer with the Governor's Reading Program and also a volunteer Radio Reader for the Blind. Dean was a life-member of the United States Naval Academy Alumni Association and served two terms as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Puget Sound Chapter. He served one term as Vice President of the Board. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and the American Legion.
      His biggest passion in life was fishing.

      Dean was preceded in death by his wife Ev. He is survived by his oldest son Jeffery Dwight Angel of Idaho, his daughter Karyn Andrea Angel Dorion (Tim) of Nevada and son Jonathan Drew Angel of Oregon. He is also survived by grandsons Brandon Dorion of Arizona, Parker Dorion of Nevada and granddaughter Brooke Dorion of Nevada. Other survivors are Brother Donald Joe Angel, Sr. (Shirley) of Puyallup, Washington and Sister Vikki Lynne Angel Yeager (Bill) of Edmonds, Washington. His nephews and nieces include Donald Joe Angel, Jr. (Michelle) and niece Kimberley Ann Angel, both of Lynnwood, Washington, nieces Joely Yeager O'Rourke (Shane) and grandnephew Brock Griffith, Jaime Yeager St. Pierre (Paul), grandniece Marlee Yeager, nephew Jason Cameron Yeager (Heather) and grandniece Eva Yeager.

      Services will be held at Purdy and Walters at Floral Hills on Thursday, February 6, 2014. Viewing, remembrances and refreshments from noon until 2:00pm, Chapel Service at 2:00pm followed by military honors with Taps at gravesite.
