- I've never seen even a guess as to who his first wife was. A lot of people, erroneously, have Elizabeth as the mother of all his children, but that would have been a neat trick considering she was about the same age as this John.
Marjorie was fascinated by the story of the Killough Massacre.

Notes |
- I believe this John to be the son of James Byars by his first wife, who is unidentified. This James was son of William Byars/Sarah Doggett, and James' second wife was Elizabeth Walker, daughter of Nancy Byars and Thaddeus Dudley Walker. Just to confuse things further, Elizabeth later married Nathan Byars, son of John Byars and Mary (Passey) Logan [3]
