Notes |
- ...It was in North Carolina that his son William Taylor Hale met Eliza Adeline Elzie, the daughter of William Elzie. William Elzie also came from England and settled in North Carolina. He was a blacksmith by trade. He made wagons shovels hoes, cowbells, and many other things and sold them by the dozens to diff. companies.
There were four children in William Elzie's family--Three girls and one boy. Adeline was feeding her baby sister some maple syrup one day and she strangled to death.
This left two girls and one boy. Adeline was a very young girl when this tragedy happened, and she never did completely get over it. [1]
