- Jewel Taylor passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 in Tulare, California, after a lengthy illness.
Jewel was born in Floyd County, Texas on September 10, 1920 to her parents Virgil and Sally Hennessee. She had been a resident of Tulare for 69 years. Jewel was married to her husband Ralph L. Taylor on December 30, 1939. They shared 61 wonderful years together until he passed away in 2000. She attended beauty college and was a licensed beautician for 72 years and had a shop for many years at her home in Tulare. Jewel was an avid bowler, and in later years spent hours knitting house shoes and doing embroidery on kitchen towels. She was also a pink lady at the Tulare District Hospital for many years.
Jewel is survived by her daughter Jacquelyn Bixler and her husband Wayne; her daughter-in-law Sherrie Taylor; her grandchildren: Tamara Dargo and her husband Don, Tad Bixler and his wife Anne, Matthew Bixler and his wife Heather, Daniel Bixler and his wife Julie, Julie Lowry and her husband Rob, Michelle Scott and her husband Clint; ten great grandchildren; two sisters Lila Youngblood of La Mirada, California and Virginia Prichard of Lubbock, Texas.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son Dennis Taylor and a brother and three sisters.
Visitation will be 12-8 pm, Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Tulare United Methodist Church. Private burial will be held at Tulare District Cemetery preceding the celebration of life.
