- Comments (Phoebe Minton b. 10 Mar 1819 Tennessee d. 4 Aug 1910 Bledsoe County, Tennessee): I am contacting you regarding Phoebe Minton's parents, Richard and Catherine Minton. My father was from Dunlap, TN, and our line of Mintons is decended from Richard. The little information that I have found regarding Richard is simply that he was from South Carolina. I have never found any documentation to that fact. He does show up on the 1830 Bledsoe County and 1830 Marion County census records. However, there is record of a Richard still in SC on the Pickens County, census. Some say that Richard is the grandson of Thomas Minton, the Quaker from Union, S.C. Others say that Thomas' grandson Richard moved to Alabama and died there. I am hoping you might be able to shed some light on our Richard Minton for me. Thanks, Edward Minton, Joplin, MO.
