Big Spring Union Church, also known as Big Springs Primitive Baptist Church, is a historic church in Springdale , Claiborne County, Tennessee .
The church was built circa 1795 or 1796, and was known at first as Big Spring Meetinghouse. A Baptist church was organized at the site in 1800. During the Civil War , it served as a hospital for both Confederate and Union Army troops.[2]

Worth further research...

This is an important reference as it may be a clue to who his wife's (Nancy DODSON) family may be as Jesse DODSON was listed as pastor and it is assumed that the many additional DODSONS cited are no doubt siblings or issue...DAH

- "...Actually, there were three Cunningham families who originated in VA; then moved to Warren County, TN in the early 1800's. Based on my clumsey interpretation of your Cunningham Family Genealogy Forum posting, you might want to follow the rather complex tread for "John 4 Cunningham" in Neil L. Cunningham's book. Here is an excerpt:
"John 4's children and grandchildren lived in Prince Edward and Pittsylvania Counties in Virginia; Hawkins and Claiborne Counties in Tennessee, then about 1809/10, settled in Irving College in Warren County, Tennessee."
If this is not the family ancestor location trail you are seeking, please accept my apology.
Note: The three John Cunningham families in Warren County were located at {1} Rock Island {2} Viola and {3} Irving College.
Second note: Full 67 markers yDNA testing is recommended for male descendents of all three John Cunningham families. They have the same given & surname but apparently different genetic heritage. y-DNA results are available for John Cunningham of Rock Island and John Cunningham of Viola. Do you have y-DNA results for John Cunningham of Irving College?
Feel free to contact me via e-mail, if needed.
