George Payne Holder, Centertown died Wednesday, February 6 at the City View Sanatorium in Nashville. Funeral services were conducted at 12 at the Christian church at Blues Hill. Burial was in Blues Hill cemetery. Mr. Holder was born in Warren county, November 6, 1896. He received his education at the McMinnville High school and State Teachers College in Murfreesboro. Mr. Holder taught school for a number of years in Warren county, also in Alabama and Georgia.
In 1917 he enlisted in the United States Navy and had served only a few months when he was seriously injured in an accident of which he never recovered. May 13 he was married to Miss Delma Webb.
To this union four children were born, Mildred, George Webb, Marion and Howard Martin Holder. Besides his wife and children he is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. A.Z. Holder, two brothers, Flavil Holder of Detroit, Michigan, Alex M. Holder of Cumberland University, Lebanon, Tenn. Three sisters, Mrs. Hoyte Blanks and Mrs. Elsie Medley and Miss Jetta Holder, teachers of this county, two foster brothers and two sisters, Dewey Holder of Centertown, Mrs. Joe Kirby of McMinnville, Frank Holder of Phoenix, Arizona and Mrs. E.H. Wilson also of Phoenix. Mr. Holder for the past few years had been living near his father at Centertown. He has many friends who mourn hiss loss, and many unfortunates who traveled the Broadway of America who received a helping hand from him. Funeral services were conducted by John W. High.
