Mr. Joe Houston Green age 89 of Smithville, TN (Green Hill Community) died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Alvin C. York VA Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. He was born January 20, 1924, in Warren County, TN, was a retired heavy equipment operator with both the county and state, he served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army and is a former P.O.W., and was a member of Green Hill Church of Christ. Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents Lusheon C. and Etta Alice Boren Green, his sisters Dovie Green Sparkman, Ophia Green Flanders, Dollie Green Greene, Valata Green Fletcher, Marie Green, and Hattie Green Argo, and his brothers Everette Green and Elbert Green.
Survivors include his wife Marion Kathryn Green, daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Darrell Russell and sons and daughters-in-law Joe Allan and Teresa Green and Larry and Amy Green. 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral service is 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 28, 2013, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Teddy Jones will officiate. Interment will follow at Webb Cemetery. Military grave rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 173 and the V.F.W. Post 5064. The Green Family will receive friends Thursday from 3 P.M. until 8 P.M. and again Friday from 10 A.M. until 1 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
