I'm a descendant of Stripling Byars, who d. in Jefferson County, AL in 1836. He had three daughters, including Agnes, who m. William J. Gee in Jefferson County on 4/21/1824, Jane, who m. Eason Gee in Jefferson Co. on 3/26/1830, and Elizabeth, who m. my John R. Goyne in Jefferson Co. before Feb 1830. Jane Goyne Gee was a widow when named in probate documents of her father's estate, as is William J. Gee.
I suspect that William J. Gee and Eason Gee were brothers, but I have no proof of same, and I have no information concerning their ancestors. The Byars family was in Christian Co. KY before coming to Jefferson County in 1817. Agnes Byars had married Joseph R. Findley in Jefferson Co. 4/19/1821 before her marriage to Gee. Agnes is buried in the Gee Cemetery in Chickasaw Co. MS.
Mike Gee's webpage concerning the History of the Gee Family told me the rest of the story concerning Eason Gee and Jane after they arrived in Texas by 1835.

Stripling Byars is an interesting name.
BUSHROD DOGGETT,b. abt. 1711, Lancaster Co., VA; d. 1791, Culpeper Co., Va
In 1737 he married ANNE STRIPLING, dau. of Joel and Mary Stripling. Anne was born in 1716, St. Paul's Parish, Stafford (now King George) Co., VA, d. 1791, Culpeper Co., VA.
One of their children was Sarah Ann who married William Byars. Now the good part: William and Sarah Ann Byars named one of their sons Stripling Byars!
Do you think he is YOUR Stripling Byars?
MY Stripling Byars would have been born in Rutherford County, NC before 1790 because that was the year that Sarah Ann Doggett Byars married her second husband Joel Blackwell (Wm. Byars had died).
I hope you see this and reply.
Cecelia
