Wow, what can I say. Grandmother Jo (Josephine Hennessee) was the sweetest thing I ever knew. Maybe if all of this is true she did an about face after the Benton/Patch-Eye thing. There were a couple of things incorrect: she died in the Rio Grande Valley in 1975. She had been living with Roma and her family in Donna where I lived with my family. I have her and Herman's marriage certificate and they were married in Frederick, Tillman Co., OK. This all just blows my mind.

Where did you find this person's info? I am numb!!!! I wish they were (mom and Roma) were alive....maybe Betty Lou can help us out but if this is all true she might well not tell us anything!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to get on the phone and e-mail this stuff. Thanks.

      David,

I am Candy, Ella Josephine Hennessee's granddaughter. Daymon Gililland has been keeping me up on the Hennessee family info he has received from you. As he has you on my comments about the info on my grandmother.

You have seen my comments about it and know how hard it was for me to believe she would do something of that magnitude. I know people can do unimaginable things when push comes to shove to survive, but I just couldn't fathom her having her husband killed. At least, not the woman I knew in my lifetime. I was 26 when she died and never knew her to be anything but sweet. She did have a love of playing tricks/jokes on people. She once dressed up like an old woman and went over and visited a good friend/neighbor and the woman never knew it was Phine. I guess one could consider it "mean" to do these pranks. My cousin can testify to that. When she was somewhere between 2 and 4 she and her mother, Phine's daughter, went over to Phine's to visit but Dale being stubborn wouldn't get out of the car. Grandmother put on a gorilla mask and slipped out of the house and came up by the car window and scared her to death. After that Dale would be out of the car before her mom could come to a complete stop. Having a 2 year old grandson, I could see the humor in it but see where one might call it being mean. So, who knows.

Because of the info you passed on, I went to a message board today and posted a message requesting someone to do a look up for me on the murder of Benton Hill. To my surprise, I received a response within a few hours. I will forward you the response. It made me feel much better about the whole situation but I would still like more details concerning the whole incident.

You gave a phone number, 800-327-3380, is this home or work. I will gladly talk to you and appreciate any and all info you are willing to share.

      Candy
