- Mr. Franklin Thomas Basham age 80 of McMinnville, TN, died Tuesday, January 06, 2015, at Rain Tree Manor Nursing Center in McMinnville, TN.
He was born February 05, 1934, in Viola, TN, was a 1953 graduate of Central High School, a 1959 graduate of Emery Riddle Flight School, had lengthy careers in nursery as owner of Frank Basham Nursery in Viola and flight instruction, aerial agriculture pilot, and previous manager of the Warren County Memorial Airport. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957, was the MTNA Nurseryman of the Year Warren County Soil Conservation Farmer of the Year, and Warren County Airport Board member. Mr. Basham was preceded in death by parents Robert L. and Stacy May Thaxton Basham, a son Kenneth Basham, and a brother Raymond Basham.
Survived by wife Patricia Powell Basham, son and daughter-in-law Kelly and Cynthia Basham of McMinnville, TN, daughter Kay Basham of Chattanooga, TN, brothers Joe Bob and wife Dorothy Basham of Viola, TN, and Benton Basham of Viola and Texas, grandchildren Tabathia Lester, Jason and Joshua Basham all of McMinnville, TN, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 08, 2015, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Kevin Deason will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. There will be no service held at the cemetery. The Basham Family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. and again Thursday from 9 A.M. until 11 A.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
