    Hi David:

I got your attachments. Give me time to review and add the missing info to my file. Look at my DeKalb County books, marriages and I will get back to you.

Your Amos Griffith is the s/o Jonathan & Elizabeth Williams Griffith. I descend from their son David Griffith.

I will also need to review your Wright info. I do know that I would =like to find something that lists the children of Thomas Wright, b. abt. 1760. At this time I am going on research that I found in DeKalb County this summer. It list the children including my ancestor William Wright.

I see no listing for a Patsy Wright as a d/o Thomas Wright. I assume that Patsy was never married. She is listed in William Wright's will as a sister. Quote from will(I give to my sister Patsy Wright fifty dollars). I think Patsy's name is Martha Wright.

Will get back to you with more including my updated file.

    Ria,

    Thanks for your response.

The GRIFFITH farm (occupied from 1805 or 06) was located on Hensley Hollow Road, Forks of the Pike. That original tract of land was added to,and then divided (as Jonathan GRIFFITH(Jr) gave (or sold) various parcels to his own sons when they, themselves began farming. A GRIFFITH occupied at least a portion of that land until the 1940s. There are at least three, perhaps more, GRIFFITH plot family cemeteries on that farmland. . I have been to the Jonathan GRIFFITH(Jr)(my ggg) granddad cemetery and the Moses GRIFFITH(my gg grandad) cemetery on that land. The 3rd GRIFFITH cemetery on this farm I have not been too. It was overgrown(even in 1970) when an older relation told me about it--don't know who is buried there. But I have been to New Hope Church Cemetery, and have seen the marker for Jonathan GRIFFITH (SR) That road where New Hope is located, apparently comes out on the backside(getting near Forks of the Pike and Liberty) of the original GRIFFITH(Jonathan Jr's) farm.

Now, as far as Edith GRIFFITH and her death (STB abt 1803) the only info I have, is near Sykes and/or Hickman Creek. The GRIFFITH bunch apparently first settled there, during/or after /migration from NC, but family lore said it was too swampy and disease infested--Edith(the mom,Mrs. Jonathan GRIFFITH Sr) died, Moses(Jonathan Jr's first child was born there, whom he named Edith, after his Mom.(Incidentally, this newborn child, was Edith(called Endy or Edy GRIFFITH, who later married James YEARGIN) I also have gathered from family lore, that beside the death of Edith, his wife, and the birth of his granddaughter,Edy; Jonathan GRIFFITH Sr's also lost his(only) cow and horse .They died-.---(hard times, for the GRIFFITHs, but don't know which event they considered the most disastrous--?Loss of the wife or the horse?)

I don't know what records to check around that area. (It's so hard, looking for documentation records for any female)I do not know where to look for burial....So, as far as location, the only help I can give you, is some place that is near a creek or swampy area, near that location, but older family members did say Smith County.(however, big Smith Co was at that time--1802 or 03) You see why I said "Brickwall".

The sons of Jonathan GRIFFFITH Jr. who obtained farm land or farms around that area and/or are buried around that area are

Moses GRIFFITH(dob 1806) (the eldest son and my line)
    David GRIFFITH(dob 1807),
    John GRIFFITH(dob 1809),
    Elias GRIFFITH(dob 1811),
    Amos GRIFFITH(Dob 1814),
    Peyton GRIFFITH9dob 1819,and
    William GRIFFITH(dob 1822).

I have records of the Moses,Elias,Amos,Peyton, and William GRIFFITH's burial locations. Do not know where David or John GRIFFITH are buried. There were also three daughters,Edith'Edy" GRIFFITH(dob 1803) whom I mentioned married James Yeargin, Elizabeth GRIFFITH(DOB 1816) who married
    (1.)Green Adams and
(2)John Hays and Nancy GRIFFITH (dob 1820) who married Allen Jones.

Names help some times---Maybe these names will help somehow.

Thanks again-----I look for to a positive result.

    List Friends and Kin:
My families in Dekalb(previously Smith) Co TN are primarily: GRIFFITH,VICK, JENKINS

The GRIFFITH family has been in the Smith(Dekalb) Co area since 1805 (documented) and have intermarried with members of many families represented on this roll call. The VICK family has been in the Smith(Dekalb)Co area since before 1808(documented) and also have intermarried with many other Dekalb Co families

    My BRICKWALLs:

    1. Jonathan GRIFFITH(Sr) (dob 1755 -dod July 1830) buried New Hope Church Cemetery, Alexandria, TN(old road to Liberty,TN) married Edith (unk maiden name) dob unk dod STB1803.

Jonathan GRIFFITH(Sr) ,his wife,Edith and others migrated to the Smith Co area from NC. Edith died enroute, and Jonathan (Jr),Edith's son, named his first child after her. Edith is STB buried near Sykes, or Hickman Creek.Have been unable to locate any additional info.Would like her maiden surname, burial location.

    2. Jonathan GRIFFITH (Jr) (dob 19 Nov 1782-dod 3 Oct 1848)s/o Jonathan GRIFFITH (Sr) married Elisabeth (maiden name unk, said to have been called Betsey,(supposedly was Betsey Williams, dau of William William,Sr BUT that parentage has been disproved) Elisabeth( dob 6 April 1782 dod 12 March 1854). Both Jonathan and Elisabeth GRIFFITH are buried Jonathan GRIFFITH cemetery, Hensley Hollow Road, Forks of the Pike, near Liberty,Dekalb Co TN.

Both Jonathan and Elisabeth were born in NC. and married about 1802-1803(date of first child's birth, Dec 1803) STB marriage occurred during migration from NC into TN.Need surname of Elisabeth "unk" GRIFFITH, and record(documentation) of their marriage...or any info about migration journey.

    3. Moses GRIFFITH(1806-1861) s/o Jonathan GRIFFITH (Jr). married(10 Aug 1826) to Joanna JENKINS(1801-1883).Would like definite verification of her parentage.--Joanna and Moses named their oldest son, Josiah(could that be, after Joanna's Dad or brother??) 1850, and 1860
    census Dekalb Co--have elderly Sarah JENKINS (68)1850 and Elizabeth JENKINS(84) 1860 living in HH w/Moses and Joanna GRIFFITH.---Therefore, any info about a Josiah(Joseph) JENKINS(about 1770-1850),Sarah JENKINS(1794-1860) or Elizabeth JENKINS(1776-1870) I could use.

    4. Littleberry VICK(1798-1867)s/o Joshua VICK and Rebecca HARGROVE., married Rhoda A. (unk maiden name) about 1818. Their first child was Eli VICK(dob 1819),their last child (my line) Eliza Jane VICK(Dob 1837). I have been unable to locate the maiden name of Rhoda A. from any source. STB Rhoda's parents traveled west and left Rhoda behind in Liberty,TN when she married Littleberry VICK.--Rhoda A. was born in VA.---Any clue will be considered. Any spare daughters named Rhoda or Rhoda A. out there?

    Thanks very much.
